Change Afoot
Dear readers,
As we wrap up the 7th issue of French Accent Magazine, we wish to announce several important changes for the near future. After carefully reading and analyzing the several hundreds of comments received from you in our readers’ survey, we have come to the conclusion that it is difficult for many of you to read the magazine in only one month. Perhaps too much information is condensed in a single issue, and, consequently, many of you do not have the time to read all of the articles before you receive the following issue. Therefore, we have decided to issue the magazine every two months, as of the present issue, which will cover the months of June and July. The contents will not change, except from trying to follow more precisely the wishes that you expressed in our survey. One thing that was immediately obvious in your Survey was the high level of interest in the “Scenario of the Month”, the “Coin des branchés”, and all the grammar and vocabulary aids, especially associated with an audio link. We’ve come to realise how important it is for more than 80% of you to understand and learn the language based on everyday life situations. You are also looking for something totally different from what one finds in the majority of books or publications designed for learning the French language; most of you want real and practical information which can be used immediately when you are in a French speaking country, whether it is for travelling, living or working. French Accent Magazine will therefore continue to provide you with articles on the different aspects of French life and culture and on the French language on a regular basis. You will be able to continue reading about the following themes: expatriates’ experiences in France, places to visit, politics, tips & traps, the environment, arts and culture, with even more scenarios and vocabulary lists.
Publishing French Accent Magazine, bi-monthly, is not the only change we are planning. As some of you understand very well, issuing a full magazine is a huge job for the French Accent Magazine team to put together, and you can all imagine the number of hours we devote every month to providing you with the best possible information in order to help you integrate in your French life or to help you discover the different aspects of living in France. And we only want to improve your magazine, which will mean even more work. Therefore, to be able to continue on a regular basis, and to maintain the high quality of our enquiries and articles we have decided to issue the magazine on a paid subscription basis. As of the August-September issue, which will be published mid-August, the magazine will be available only to subscribers. Subscription prices will be 6 €/issue, 15 € for 3 issues, or 28 € per year (6 issues). Details on how to subscribe will soon be available on the web site and sent to you by e-mail.
We thank you very much in advance for your comprehension, and we wish you a very nice summer. For those of you who have not yet picked a holiday destination, enjoy this June-July issue. We have dedicated our main feature to the French Alps region, a wonderful spot for those hot summer days that are on the way!
